Archetype Review

Well,Here is our First Review Ever! This is for a Popular FPS Multiplayer game for the the Iphone and Ipod touch. It is also avalible in a HD Version for the Ipad. If you can't find it in the app store, it is most likely not available for your model.

A Popular Craze currently in the App store is FPS, or First Person Shooters. Another popular craze is Multiplayer games. Combine the two, and you've got Archetype.

What is archetype?

Archetype is a game where the player picks a screen name, or "BattleTag", then is put directly into the action.

Archetype is almost Strictly Multiplayer, But does feature a single player "Training" mode" where the player must take out several targets.

But the real fun is found in the multiplayer mode. When the Player taps "Play" they are brought into the Matchmaking lobby. Here, players are gathered into a 5-on-5 Lobby, Free-For-All Lobby, a 5-on-5 Capture the flag lobby, or a mix of the three.
The Players vote on a map and a mode, and after about one minute the players enter battle on teams balanced by the game.


The Matchmaking Lobby

Based on the number of players, a time limit is given to the game. The players control themselves with Two Circle Pads on the screen, one for moving their player, and one for moving their sight. When a player gets another player into the target in the middle of their screen, the auto fire kicks in and eventually the other player may die. At the end of the time limit, the scores are calculated and the winning team (Or Player In Free-For-all mode), and the MVP is determined.

Their are many guns that can be found in-game, aside from the default gun. There are also two types of grenades that the player can use.



Now that you have the "Low-Down", Let's get to the critique.

Archetype is a blast. It can get a little aggravating when those archetype addicts enter the game and simply dominate, but with a little practice you'll be dominating,too. Although, some of these "Dominators" will want to make you throw your phone across the room. With a game using the Iphone's or Ipod's wireless compatibility, you'd expect the game to lag a lot, but it doesn't.

Pretty Much everything in archetype is great, but there are a few things here and there that can be found unappealing. For example, the challenge mode, which players use to challenge their friends, seems to be broken. Also, one song that is played through the entire game can get a little annoying, along with the hideous noise that a player makes upon death. Load times are kind of a drag too, but you can't blame them because the game runs so smoothly. However, awesome 3d graphics, online play, and fast-paced gaming can make the game a real battery drainer.

Closing Comments
Archetype is an enjoyable, addicting, competitive game that pretty much any player with Wifi or 3G can experience. With only a few bugs here and there, It really is awesome. And you can't forget the beautiful graphics,either. Archetype is,in one word, a Blast.
